Heroes' Mountain (2001) - 1hr 35mins
Many ordinary men and women became heroes on July 30, 1997 when four thousand tons of earth crashed down on two ski lodges in Thredbo village, on of Australia's premier ski resorts. With the injured inaccessible, and the mountain flooded with mud, leaking gas and concrete slabs that threatened to crush all attempts at rescue, local ski instructor Stuart Diver was miraculously discovered 65 hours later deep below the surface in freezing mud and water.
"Heroes Mountain" traces the disaster from the night of the landslide to the incredible rescue of the sole survivor. Not only celebrating one man's refusal to die, this moving and gripping telemovie pays tribute to the professionalism, courage and dedication of the rescuers in the face of a horrific tragedy.
